I’m a deeply sentimental person. I’ve saved nearly every birthday, Christmas, graduation, and “just because” card I’ve ever received. I take countless photos of my family and my baby—and I can’t bring myself to delete a single one. I’m a memory keeper through and through.
This mindset shapes everything about my current art practice. But let’s rewind a bit.
My journey started in 2018 as a confused college student. I was woefully uncertain about what I wanted to do with my life (hello, Political Science major) and ended up leaving my first university. After a rocky first semester, I transferred to Penn State and was accepted into the School of Visual Arts, where I pursued a degree in Art Education. I had always loved working with children and creating art, so teaching felt like a natural path.
I graduated in 2021 and—despite a national teacher shortage—couldn’t find a job in my field. I subbed in multiple school districts and even taught online for a year, but none of it felt fulfilling. It was disheartening. I found myself searching desperately for work that filled my cup and helped pay the bills, but nothing seemed to click.
Fast forward a bit—I discovered live wedding painting in 2023, offered to do it for a friend, started this business, nearly quit a dozen times, got married, had a baby, left my “real job,” to be a full-time mama and took the leap into Hannah Brauckmann Art. I haven’t looked back since.
My work is fueled by the belief that preserving memories is
some of the most meaningful and important work on Earth.
A live painting created on your wedding day brings back a rush of memories in an instant - the exhilaration of walking down the aisle, the weight of exchanging your vows, and the joy you felt throughout the day where everyone you love came to celebrate with you.
In a world where everyone’s moving a mile a minute, art is a way to freeze time. My contribution to this world - aside from my callings to marriage and motherhood - is to steward the gifts God has given me. I paint, draw, and create so that others can pause, remember, and enjoy.
